NOW HIRING -
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Smart Warehouse Retrofit

Municipal Water Monitoring

The Nebraska Land Improvement Contractors Association (NLICA) is seeking an organized, people-focused Executive Director to lead the association's day-to-day operations.

About NLICA -
NLICA represents Nebraska's land improvement contractors and the associate businesses that support them. For more than 65 years, the association has brought members together through its annual winter convention, summer field days, a fall sporting clay shoot, scholarships, member insurance and benefit programs, and advocacy at the state and national level as an affiliate of National LICA.

The Role -
The Executive Director is the face and engine of the association. Working closely with the Board of Directors and Treasurer, you will keep members informed, manage membership and finances, plan and run our events, and serve as the main contact for members, sponsors, partners, and National LICA. The work follows a predictable yearly rhythm, with the January convention as the high point.

What You'll Do -
• Communications: Produce the monthly newsletter, maintain the website, and coordinate social media and member email.

• Membership: Maintain membership records, process applications, run recruitment efforts, and produce the annual membership directory, including ad sales.

• Member benefits: Manage the state membership benefits program, working with associate members to establish each year's benefits and advertising them to members.

• Finances: Collect and deposit payments, prepare and track annual dues, manage the association credit card, and work with the Treasurer on invoices and records.

• Board support: Schedule and organize bi-monthly board meetings, prepare agendas, minutes, and materials, and report on association activity.

• Annual convention: Plan and run the three-day January convention, including the hotel contract, speakers and programs, registrations, sponsors, exhibitors, entertainment, and the scholarship auction.

• Events: Organize the summer field day or picnic and the fall sporting clay shoot, from venue and sponsors to registration and wrap-up.

• Scholarships: Promote scholarships, coordinate committee review, and communicate with recipients and schools.

• Partnerships: Serve as the contact for member insurance programs and other partners, attend National LICA meetings, and share National programs with Nebraska members.

• Legislative: Support the association's legislative reporting and lobbyist relationship.

What We're Looking For -
• Strong organization and the ability to juggle deadlines across several events and projects.

• Clear, friendly written and verbal communication.

• Comfort with basic bookkeeping, payment tracking, and record keeping.

• Working knowledge of email, word processing, spreadsheets, and online registration and social media tools.

• Experience with event planning, sponsorships, or nonprofit or association work is a plus.

• Familiarity with agriculture, conservation, construction, or the land improvement industry is a plus.

• Ability to travel within Nebraska for meetings and events, and occasionally out of state for National LICA meetings.

Position Details -
• Status: Independent contractor position.

• Start date: On or around February 1, 2027, with the opportunity to shadow the current Executive Director at the January convention.

• Location: Flexible within Nebraska; much of the work can be done from home.

• Support: NLICA currently has a part-time social media coordinator who handles social media posts, event promotion, and website updates. They are willing to continue in the role, but the new Executive Director will have the option to keep that arrangement or take on social media themselves.

• Travel: Travel expenses for association business are reimbursed.

• Compensation: Starting at $40,000, based on experience.
